Lennon thanks 'special' Hoops fans

eil Lennon has thanked the Celtic fans for their "fantastic" backing as he awaits news on the club's search for a permanent manager.[LNB] Celtic announced the beginning of their recruitment drive hours after Lennon secured his eighth successive SPL victory.[LNB]Celtic's 2-1 victory at Hearts on Sunday followed an Old Firm win by the same scoreline and has given Lennon genuine hope of securing the job.[LNB]The sour note of his interim reign was one of the worst defeats in the club's history, their Scottish Cup semi-final exit at the hands of Ross County.[LNB]And Lennon is grateful for the Celtic supporters' help in turning around the team's form.[LNB]"They are what makes this club special," Lennon told the club's Huddle Online.[LNB]"Obviously we have a great history and ethos behind the club, but the supporters are special and quite unique.[LNB]"They've taken me under their wing, their backing has been fantastic and as a player they got right behind me.[LNB]"It's been the same as manager, especially after Ross County, and I'd really like to thank those who have continued to support the team.[LNB]"They helped get the momentum going and the pinnacle was the derby.[LNB]"That game was a throwback. The atmosphere was really raw and the win very satisfying."[LNB]Meanwhile, Celtic have confirmed two more games of their pre-season tour of North America.[LNB]Celtic will face Philadelphia Union on July 14 at PPL Park and Seattle Sounders at the Qwest Field on July 18.[LNB]The club last week announced a match against Manchester United on July 16.[LNB]Chief executive Peter Lawwell said: "Celtic Football Club has enjoyed many successful visits to the United States and Canada and we are sure that this summer's tour will be another great occasion.[LNB]"These visits are great for Celtic and our supporters and a tremendous way to promote Scottish football.[LNB]"The club always receives a very warm welcome in Canada and the United States and we are pleased that through such tours our fans have the chance to see the team in action."
