Lennon looking at Lawrence

Nothing stands still in football even if a manager is not formally appointed top make decisions. There has been no response from Stoke City after it has been reported that Celtic had made a £1.5m bid for winger Liam Lawrence. The decision to go for the Republic of Ireland man rested with interim manager Neil Lennon who is still working to strengthen the squad ahead of the new campaign. This is not a done deal yet as it has been suggested that Stoke are looking for nearer £2m. They are aware that rivals Wolves are also interested so they may want to fan the flames of a bidding war. Lennon could be confirmed as Tony Mowbray's permanent replacement in the next 48-hours and has already been linked with a number of transfer targets for what would be his first full season at the helm.
