Neil Lennon admits he will look at his own position if Celtic's results fail to improve.
The Hoops' 2-0 defeat by Hearts at Tynecastle on Sunday kept them 10 points behind Clydesdale Bank Premier League leaders Rangers and one behind Motherwell, albeit the Parkhead side have a game in hand. Celtic have already lost three SPL games, and due to the international break will have to wait a fortnight before getting the chance to get back on track against Kilmarnock.
Although manager Lennon reportedly has no intention of walking away from the club he once captained, he is aware of the responsibilities he shoulders and will not dodge a period of introspection if improvement fails to materialise. He was quoted in the Evening Times as saying: "I'm going to be under pressure because the fans will demand that results have to be better."
He added: "And, if results are not better soon, then I will have to look at my own position."
Lennon is hoping the international break does not bring more injury woes to Celtic Park.
The Northern Irishman is already having to cope without long-term injured defenders Emilio Izaguirre, Cha Du-ri and Kelvin Wilson while first-choice midfielders Beram Kayal, Scott Brown and Joe Ledley were also missing from the trip to Tynecastle through injury.
"We hope they all come back fit and well and the likes of Kayal, Ledley and Brown are all available for Kilmarnock," said the Celtic boss.
"But I'm not using that as an excuse because I felt the team were strong enough to win the game against Hearts. There are two or three players off form and I am worried that there is a lack of belief among some of them at the minute that they can pull it around."
Lennon denied fatigue was a factor in the game which followed an energy-sapping Europa League match against Udinese at Parkhead last Thursday night. Celtic lost the first Old Firm derby of the season to Rangers at Ibrox last month following their return from Spain where they lost their Group I opener to Atletico Madrid.
But the former Northern Ireland international said of the performance at Hearts: "I didn't see any tiredness from them, particularly in the first hour, I thought we played quite well."
