Legends sign up for Burns match

The game, which will see members of the current Hoops first team take on a Tommy Burns Select side, will take place at Parkhead on Sunday, May 31 at 2pm.[LNB]The select XI will be managed by Lisbon Lions captain Billy McNeill and will include members of the 1988 centenary team, with Peter Grant, Derek Whyte, Joe Miller, Andy Walker, Packie Bonner and Paul McStay all confirmed in the squad.[LNB]Murdo MacLeod, Davie Provan and George McCluskey - Burns' team-mates from the early 1980s - will be there, while recent stars Neil Lennon, Stilian Petrov, John Hartson and Paul Lambert have all signed up.[LNB]Of those who played under Burns during his spell as Celtic manager, Tom Boyd, Simon Donnelly, Pierre van Hooijdonk, Alan Stubbs, Tommy Johnson and Tosh McKinlay have confirmed their attendance.[LNB]Current Dunfermline boss Jim McIntyre, who played for Burns at Reading, has been named in the squad, while more Celtic greats are expected to sign up.[LNB]The game will see Burns' son Jonathan follow in his father's footsteps by playing at Parkhead.[LNB]Burns, who died aged 51 on May 15 last year, spent 14 years at Celtic as a player before returning to manage the club in 1994.[LNB]He had been working as a coach under current boss Gordon Strachan when he passed away.[LNB]Next month's game will benefit the Burns family, with donations being made by the family to the Celtic Charity Fund and the Tommy Burns Skin Cancer Trust, which has been established by Burns' daughters.[LNB]On the day of the match, Burns' widow Rosemary will also unveil a bronze sculpture of him at the entrance to Celtic Park.[LNB]The sculpture, depicting his life in football, will be mounted on the wall of the stadium as Burns becomes the inaugural inductee into a new hall of fame called Celtic Legends.[LNB][LNB]
