Kris expects tough Glory test

Kris Commons says jet lag left him sitting out Celtic's 1-0 defeat to Central Coast Mariners on their Australian pre-season tour last Saturday.[LNB] However, following a series of rigorous training sessions this week, the attacking midfielder is feeling revitalised ahead of the second fixture of the trip against Perth Glory on Saturday.[LNB]"Jet lag affected a few people in different ways and I just didn't quite get over mine in time for the game," the Scotland international told Celtic's official website.[LNB]"It was quite a gruelling schedule when we got over here.[LNB]"We had some hard training sessions and I didn't feel I was ready to play a game, and the last thing I wanted to do was pick up an injury and miss most of the tour.[LNB]"So now that I've had more rest and more training sessions, I can play a bigger part on Saturday."[LNB]Watching from the sidelines in Sydney, Commons, 27, was impressed by the Mariners' quality and will be happy with more of the same from their A-League rivals.[LNB]"From an outsider looking in, I think the standard was pretty good," said the Scotland midfielder.[LNB]"They kept the ball well. So for us it will be another tough test but that's the sort of test you want in pre-season.[LNB]"You don't want too many easy games.[LNB]"For us it's going to be hard work and we are going to have to put ourselves about.[LNB]"It's something I'm relishing."[LNB]Neil Lennon's training regime has become more gruelling over the last few days as the bid to get ready for the new season gathers pace.[LNB]However, Commons believes employing a proper recovery processes is just as important.[LNB]"We have certainly stepped it up, so recovery is the main thing," he said.[LNB]"Training once you have warmed up is no problem. It's short, sharp and pretty good and enjoyable.[LNB]"But like I said, the recovery is the main thing, getting the right fluid on board, getting your feet up and resting."[LNB]
