Ki Sung-yeung is going in search of title glory with Celtic after winning the Korean footballer of the year award this week.

The Hoops midfielder scored his sixth goal of the season in Sunday's 2-0 Scottish Premier League victory away to St Johnstone.

That left Celtic four points behind leaders and arch-rivals Rangers, the reigning Scottish champions.

Ki, speaking ahead of Celtic's league match at home to Kilmarnock at Parkhead on Saturday, said: Winning the award was an honour for me as I try to improve.

"People in Korea know I am getting better and better so I am quite happy.

"There is a good atmosphere at this club and the gaffer (manager Neil Lennon) and coaches try to improve me.

"My aim is to win the league and if I do it will be a perfect season for me."

Ki, who joined Glasgow giants Celtic from FC Seoul two years ago, said the travelling between Scotland and Korea had been an issue.

"It is not easy for me and all the other players from Asia.

"But to represent my country and my club is a big honour, so even though I am very tired, I don't care," the 22-year-old added.

"I have been here for two years and I can adapt to this environment.

"I was tired and sick in November but now I am getting back to my best and I am quite satisfied with my performances at the moment."
