Kennedy wants 'electric' atmosphere

Kennedy helped Celtic knock Barcelona out of the UEFA Cup in 2004 when the Hoops were at the height of their powers in European competition.[LNB]However, they face an uphill struggle to qualify for the Europa League knockout stages following a poor campaign so far.[LNB]Tony Mowbray has seen his side lose three times and draw once in four European games at Parkhead, which had previously been seen as one of the most difficult venues in Europe.[LNB]Before Mowbray's arrival, only Barcelona had emerged victorious from the east end of Glasgow in a 35-game run stretching back to 2001.[LNB]But Kennedy, who was forced to retire this month following eight operations on his knee, believes the visit of Hapoel can spark another good run.[LNB]"In European nights at Parkhead the atmosphere is electric," Kennedy said.[LNB]"This season has just been maybe a bit of bad luck and the team has not been playing as well as they could.[LNB]"But you have much the same players that were there the last year or two so it's no different.[LNB]"I think they can certainly recapture the form and go on a good run of results and hopefully in Europe we can get back to winning ways."[LNB]Kennedy has fond memories of playing for Celtic in Europe, adding: "It was great, (although) obviously our away form wasn't great even back then.[LNB]"But on the home games it was a great night to be out there on the field playing. To be part of that is really special and something that everyone at Celtic strives for."[LNB]Mowbray found some welcome relief from the pressure generated by a run of just two wins in 10 games with Saturday's 3-1 win over St Mirren 3-1 on Saturday to move back to the top of the Clydesdale Bank Premier League.[LNB]He will need another victory against the Israeli side to prevent Celtic being knocked out of the Europa League, although Hamburg will eliminate the Hoops anyway if they beat Rapid Vienna.[LNB]But Kennedy hopes Celtic can at least keep the momentum going following their win over St Mirren.[LNB]"Results have been a bit patchy at times but hopefully after Saturday, and a good performance as well, they can take confidence into the games ahead and go on a good run of results," he said.[LNB][LNB]
