Celtic left-back Emilio Izaguirre has been named Cheque Centre PFA Scotland Player of the Year. Izaguirre beat team-mate Gary Hooper, Old Firm rival Steven Naismith and Kilmarnock's Alexei Eremenko to the award at a ceremony in Glasgow. Izaguirre, 24, has been a revelation since joining Celtic on a four-year contract from Motagua in his homeland after playing for Honduras in the World Cup last summer. Celtic assistant manager Johan Mjallby hailed the attack-minded defender's impact at the club. "Emilio has probably been the signing of the season and it's brilliant for him to win," the Swede said. "He has been absolutely marvellous. He is maybe not the best left-back in the world but he is up there. "I think this boy has every chance to be one of the best in the world."
