Celtic have agreed a deal to sign defender Jos Hooiveld from AIK Stockholm.
Hooiveld, 26, will be unveiled by the Hoops later in the week after the two clubs agreed a fee in the region of £2million for Sweden's player of the year in 2009.
His arrival is likely to accelerate the departure of Middlesbrough transfer target Gary Caldwell.
"I think my style of play will be good for the Scottish league and I can do a very good job for Celtic," he told the Daily Record.
"It should be something special for me to play for Celtic because they are a big classic club.
"In many ways they are like AIK to me because they have a big and passionate following of supporters.
"All the town of Glasgow speaks about football. It's a massive interest to everyone.
"It will be a very good move for me."
Meanwhile, Celtic's Scottish Cup clash at First Division Morton has been postponed for a second time due to a frozen pitch.
The game was rescheduled for Tuesday night after the original fixture on Saturday fell victim to the big freeze.
