Hinkel worried for his place

Competition is good for a side but perhaps not so good for the players involved when they see a new player brought into the club Right-back Andreas Hinkel is worried that his days could be numbered at Parkhead since the summer signing of Cha Du-Ri. South Korea international Cha is expected to start the season on the right-hand side of manager Neil lennon's defence ahead of Hinkel. The German defender has 12 months left on his contract and says there have been no clubs chasing him with contracts in hand. Hinkel is happy to fight for his place in the side but is not ruling out a move before the transfer window closes. Hinkel said: "There is no contact from other clubs and I am still here. We will see at the end of August, that's the honest answer The manager has spoken with me. I know I have just one more year and if there is an offer I have to think about it but so far there is nothing." The 28-year-old is focusing on building up his fitness and being ready for the start of the new SPL season. Celtic take on Braga in the Champions League qualifiers next week and Hinkel insists the coming days will be used to finalise preparations. He went on: "If the game was tomorrow we would not be ready but we will use the days to come to prepare. It is getting better every day. The first week was very hard then the travel here was difficult. We also trained very hard between the games. It's not as if we have relaxed before matches. Teams here are in the middle of the season and it is always good to win as we did in Seattle but it is pre-season and the most important game is the qualifier. It's all about getting fit."
