Hinkel has his say about Mowbray

Andreas Hinkel liked Tony Mowbray but honesty may not have been his best policy Sometime you should be careful what you say and honesty is not always the best policy. That appears to be what defender Andreas Hinkel is suggesting when he accused sacked manager Tony Mowbray of being "too honest". His honesty in assessing what resources he had available may have helped cost Mowbray his job. Hinkel reckons the former West Brom boss' criticism of his players early in the start of the season could have counted against him. Mowbray said after the Europa League defeat by Hamburg in October: "It is down to the players to prove that they are good enough to stay at this club and play for these supporters, come January. We give them 10 out of 10 for effort but I have never questioned their effort. I can question their quality." Hinkel said: "Tony was a good guy. He was honest. He was maybe even too honest at the beginning when he said what he thought. Sometimes in this business you shouldn't be so honest. He was a good person who wanted to do all he could for the club."
