Have a break - clear the mind

The weather could help Celtic get back on top of the league and stay there Neil Lennon is confident the enforced break has allowed his his players to clear themselves of the mental anxiety that cost them dearly in their most recent home games. Celtic welcome Kilmarnock on Wednesday (weather permitting) with the incentive of going top of the SPL, despite the fact they have won just once in their last four games. Lennon's side have dropped four points in their most recent two home games, conceding an injury-time equaliser to Dundee United and then letting slip a two-goal lead against Inverness. Lennon was said to be "livid" after the Inverness comeback as his side again failed to see out the game from a winning position, but he believes the break of three and a half weeks has refreshed his players' minds as well as their bodies. Lennon said: "I just talked to the players and addressed the mental side of the game because it's not a physical thing. They are a talented team, there was just that bit of anxiety that crept in towards the end of the last three or four games, which hadn't been there before. So hopefully this break might have eradicated that, there will be a freshness about them and a willingness to go and express themselves." Lennon knows his team's mental strength will be crucial as they prepare to play four games in 13 festive days, culminating in the Old Firm derby at Ibrox. He said: "I think it's easier preparing for these games now that they've had a break. They will be chomping at the bit. There won't be any extra motivation needed for the game because they have not played for three or four weeks. There is a chance to go top of the league so we don't need any more incentive."
