Hartley desperate for finals chance

The Celtic midfielder, 32, was forced to withdraw from the squad earlier in the week with a hamstring injury, ruling him out of the double-header against Holland and Iceland. The Scots sit second in Group Nine behind the Dutch and Hartley knows South Africa could be his last chance to appear at a major tournament. He told the Scottish Sun: "I still feel good at 32 but obviously time does run out. "You never know how football's going to work out but the World Cup might be the last opportunity for some players to appear at a major championships. "It would mean everything for me to play in South Africa next year. "If we could get a point in Holland and a home win against Iceland then we would still be in there fighting for at least second spot. "I know the boys will give everything they've got."
