Gary Hooper and captain Scott Brown were with the Celtic party which flew out to Benfica

Gary Hooper and captain Scott Brown were with the Celtic party which flew out from Glasgow for the Champions League clash with Benfica on Tuesday night.

Striker Hooper (hamstring), skipper Brown (hip) and fellow midfielders Kris Commons (dead leg) and Joe Ledley (groin) as well as forward Miku were all on the plane to Lisbon. Greece international Georgios Samaras, who came off during the 2-0 Clydesdale Bank Premier League win against Aberdeen at Pittodrie with fatigue, was another in the Celtic travelling party. However Honduras left-back Emilio Izaguirre (hamstring), Norwegian stopper Thomas Rogne (calf) and Scotland winger James Forrest (hamstring) remain out of manager Neil Lennon's plans for the Stadium of Light encounter. Assistant manager Johan Mjallby said:

"Scott Brown and Gary Hooper are back in contention and Kris Commons and Georgios Samaras seem to be okay.

"Joe Ledley and Miku are back in contention and we have to wait to see how they are tonight when we train."

Celtic became the first British club to win the European Cup when they beat Internazionale 2-1 at the National Stadium in Lisbon on 25 May 1967.
