The former Coventry defender was born in Cheshire but qualifies for selection through his Scottish grandfather. Red tape prevented him from being called into the squad for the World Cup double-header against Macedonia and Holland. But the 23-year-old has set his sights on making his bow in Yokohama on October 10. He said: "I couldn't have been called up for the games against Macedonia and Holland because all the paperwork hasn't gone through yet. "To be fair, those are such big games that it might not have been wise for George Burley to have unsettled the squad by bringing new players in anyway. "The next match after that is in Japan next month and, if I'm still fit and playing for Celtic, I'd love to be selected for that one."
