Celtic midfielder James Forrest has lost his appeal against the red card he picked up against Hamilton earlier this month, the Scottish Football Association have confirmed.
The SFA's review panel dismissed the claim for wrongful dismissal submitted by the Parkhead club after their player was ordered off in the match at New Douglas Park on January 12.
Forrest will now serve an automatic one-match suspension, with 12 penalty points added to his disciplinary record.
The decision was taken by an independent three-man panel consisting of a former referee, a former manager and a former player.
A statement from the SFA confirmed: "The Scottish FA Review Panel dismissed a claim for wrongful dismissal submitted by Celtic Football Club regarding the ordering-off of their player, James Forrest, during Hamilton Academical v Celtic at New Douglas Park on January 12.
"An automatic one-match suspension will be applied, with 12 penalty points added to the player's disciplinary record."
Forrest, 19, was sent off for a late challenge on Hamilton full-back David Buchanan, while Accies duo Jim McAlister and Simon Mensing were also shown red cards during the Clydesdale Bank Premier League game, which ended 1-1.
Celtic manager Neil Lennon was critical of the performance of referee Willie Collum afterwards but initially appeared to accept the sending-off of his player.
Speaking after the game, Lennon said: "I would give the referee the benefit of the doubt on that one, the linesman had a good view as well.
"It's all right for me to say that it's not in his nature to do that but I can understand why the referee gave it."
