Forrest eyeing Celtic return

James Forrest is hoping for a swift return to the Celtic first team after recovering from an ankle injury.

The 19-year-old was injured in Celtic's 3-0 defeat of Hearts in September but has been running and is now eyeing a return to full training. And he is eager to stake his claim to become a permanent first-team fixture on the wing.

He said in Celtic View: "The last three weeks I've been running pain-free, so hopefully I can kick on now without any reaction. I want to get back into the side as soon as possible."

Forrest added: "There's a few good players who can play on the wing too, but hopefully once I'm back I can show I'm the player to fill that role permanently.

"I like to take on defenders because I'm an out-and-out winger so hopefully the manager thinks I can offer something different to the side and give me a chance again."
