Food for thought

Just what does Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes got to do to make them the regular starting pair up front? Gary Hooper thinks he has given Neil Lennon food for thought after praising fellow forward Anthony Stokes following Celtic's 2-0 win at St Mirren. There appears to be some reluctance on the part of the manager to give the pairing an extended run in the team, using the much-maligned Georgios Samaras in some of the bigger games and often to the frustration of the fans. The Greece striker started alongside Hooper in the 3-1 Europa League play-off defeat in Sion on Thursday night at the expense of Stokes but was dropped for the trip to Paisley. Hooper and Stokes combined well against the Buddies, especially in the early stages when a double from the former Scunthorpe striker secured all three  points. Hooper thinks the display reminded Lennon of what he and Stokes can offer. He said: "We score goals and we got 50-plus between us last season. We know what to do so it's a good partnership. We linked up for the first goal and I finished it okay and at the second goal he pressed well. Maybe we are guessing, I don't know - but we are on the same wavelength, we are similar players and we like to score goals. Most of the time we are on the same side at training so we do it in training but the main thing is doing it in the games and it has been working well."
