Finnigan upsets Strachan
19 Mar 2007 - 09:55:28
Celtic boss Gordon Strachan blamed Carl Finnigan for Stephen McManus' red card as the Bhoys lost 1-0 at Falkirk - their second successive Sunday loss following last weekend's defeat to Rangers.
The referee sent off both players, but only after Finnigan had made the most of a push by McManus.
Strachan adnitted: "It disappoints me when players from the same profession do that to each other.
"It happened to us earlier in the season when Anthony Stokes, from Falkirk, went down in an incident involving Neil Lennon.
"If players can live with themselves after doing things like that, then that's fine.
"I thought we started well but couldn't take the chances we made. We made life difficult for ourselves but I thought we had five good penalty claims involving Craig Beattie, Shunsuke Nakamura and Paul Hartley.
"We had a case for a stonewall penalty against Rangers last weekend and we're looking for a wee break at the moment, but life's like that sometimes.
"We've had worse periods of play during the season but this is the worst time when it comes to points gathering."
