Euro challenge excites Hinkel

Celtic defender Andreas Hinkel believes his recall to the Germany team is down to the Bhoys' regular participation in the Champions League.

The right-back, who moved to Celtic Park from Sevilla in January, featured in Germany's 3-3 draw with Finland on Wednesday.

"I think the Champions League is one of the reasons I was called up," said Hinkel.

"The national coach told me Celtic are a big club and they always play in the Champions League.

"I played the last half year and I am looking forward to playing this year."

Celtic face Danish side Aalborg, who are managed by former Scotland captain Bruce Rioch, in their opening Champions League game of the season on Wednesday.
