Donati set for Samp escape route

The former AC Milan player, 28, only made four appearances in the Scottish Premier League for the Hoops last season, all of them coming before Christmas. In 2009, he came off the bench in the 2-1 Scottish Cup fifth-round home win over Queen's Park but has not been seen in a Celtic shirt since. Donati joined the Bhoys in a £3million move from Milan in summer 2007, signing a four-year deal. But with two years remaining on his Parkhead contract, he is desperate to return to his homeland and his destination now appears to be the city of Genoa. Donati's agent Andrea D'Amico told the News of the World: "We have a number of different teams interested, but Sampdoria are the most keen. "It's just a question of reaching an agreement with Celtic to complete the transfer."
