Donati hoping for Hoops opening

The Italian midfielder has been a bit-part player this season after being plagued by a series of injuries, the most serious of which was a broken toe suffered in training.[LNB]That was followed by an ankle problem from which he returned in the Homecoming Scottish Cup win over Queen's Park earlier this month.[LNB]And after spending so long on the sidelines, Donati is glad there are plenty of games left this season for him to stake a claim.[LNB]"It's good that we have so many games left and I am happy that we are still in the three domestic competitions," he told Celtic View.[LNB]"Last season, we did well in the Champions League, but when that was over we only had the league to think about. This time, we have much more to look forward to.[LNB]"We want to win the league. We want to make it four titles in a row, but we also want to challenge for the other two cups. It would mean a lot to have success in those tournaments."[LNB]Celtic could find themselves playing catch-up in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League for the first time since November if Rangers beat Kilmarnock on Saturday.[LNB]The Hoops, who currently lead their arch-rivals by two points, then travel to Motherwell on Sunday.[LNB]Donati would love to be involved this weekend but he knows his first priority must be proving his fitness.[LNB]He said: "I just need to train hard and try to get back to the level of before. It's all about training and trying to get your fitness back.[LNB]"It might take a few weeks but I'll get there.[LNB]"It was difficult to watch the games because I live for football. When you are not playing, it's hard. It's never nice.[LNB]"This is my job. I play for Celtic and I want to help the team win trophies. When you are injured and helpless, it is not easy."[LNB]He added: "It won't be easy to get back in the team. I know that.[LNB]"I know how difficult it will be because we have a lot of very good midfield players in the team.[LNB]"But what can I do? I just need to work hard.[LNB]"Nobody likes sitting on the bench but I just have to be patient. I need to wait for my chance and take it when it comes."[LNB][LNB]
