Another Irishman arrives at Parkhead Sunderland striker Daryl Murphy has signed a deal with Celtic that will keep him at the club for three years. Murphy is Neil Lennon's fourth signing of the summer, following the signings of of Charlie Mulgrew, Joe Ledley and Cha Du-Ri. Murphy began his football career with his hometown club, Waterford United, before joining Sunderland in 2005in a £100,000 move. He also had loan spells at Sheffield Wednesday and then Ipswich Town last season. He has struggled to command a regular place at the Stadium of Light in recent seasons, particularly under new boss Steve Bruce. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Ipswich, where he scored six goals in 18 appearances. Murphy is one of a number of players surplus to requirements at Sunderland as Bruce attempts to re-shape his squad for the new campaign.
