Celtic winger Kris Commons is looking forward to playing in European competition for the first time this season.[LNB] Commons, 27, will experience European football at club level for the first time when the Hoops take on Swiss side Sion in their Europa League play-off later this month.[LNB]Commons who joined Celtic from Derby in January, said: "Every aspect of joining Celtic ticked every single box.[LNB]"When you join a club like Celtic you are challenging for every cup and every league that you are involved in but Europe is a massive plus for me.[LNB]"Since joining I have looked forward to being involved in Europe and it is always nice to play against the bigger clubs in Europe and I'm striving to do that this year.[LNB]"I want to try to do well and make a name for myself there."[LNB]Celtic lost their Champions League qualifier to SC Braga from Portugal last season after failing to recover from a 3-0 defeat in the first leg.[LNB]There was more woe in the Europa League qualifiers when they exited to Dutch side Utrecht 4-2 on aggregate after winning 2-0 at home.[LNB]The former Nottingham Forest player believes the memory of those defeats will provide an extra spur to the players involved.[LNB]"There will be lads there wanting to rectify what happened last year," he said.[LNB]"They felt if they had done a better job way from home then they would have had half a chance.[LNB]"Certainly we will be looking to improve our away form and we are good value to give anyone a game at home.[LNB]"It is going to be very tough for us and there are going to be a lot of games but when we play really well as a group we are a good side.[LNB]"When you play in Europe you need 11 players to be at the top of their game and if we do that then we will progress quite far."
