Commons on cloud nine

Kris Commons insists his goal against Northern Ireland on Wednesday night topped up his confidence levels ahead of Celtic's trip to Dundee United in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League on Sunday.

The former Derby wide-man was on top form against the Irish and sealed the win for Craig Levein's side with his third goal in four games since he moved to Parkhead at the end of January.

The former Nottingham Forest player, 27, admits his strike has him looking forward to Tannadice, saying: "Things could not have gone any better since I came to Celtic."

He added: "It's been fantastic. I can't praise the lads any more than I have done.

"They have welcomed me in with open arms and settled me down and I feel as if I have been here for a long time.

"I didn't have a great deal of time to settle in.

"I had my medical and before I knew it I was starting a game and it could not have gone any better because I scored my first goal.

"Obviously scoring last weekend in the Old Firm game and getting the goal for Scotland keeps that momentum going and it keeps me confident that I can keep scoring."
