Collins warning over Lennon mentor

John Collins insists Celtic "are asking for trouble" if they install a football mentor above Neil Lennon without the Irishman's approval.[LNB] Lennon is set to be made boss of the Parkhead club before the end of the week but reports claim that a sticking point in negotiations is the possible appointment of an experienced man to help the former Celtic captain, who finished his tenure as interim manager last season with eight consecutive wins in the SPL.[LNB]Lennon is said to be happy with the proposal as long as he is the one who makes the appointment.[LNB]Collins, a former Hoops midfielder and ex-Hibernian boss, said: "The manager makes the decisions.[LNB]"He decides who his backroom team is going to be, who his coaches are going to be and he has got to be in control of that situation.[LNB]"Otherwise you are asking for trouble if the club appoints someone above his head.[LNB]"It's a different ball game if he (the manager) appoints an older man to work above him.[LNB]"But for me the logical thing is that he appoints his staff because he has to trust them and work with them to take the club forward."
