Celtic keen on Stoke's Lawrence
03 Jun 2010 - 07:41:07
Stoke City are remaining tight-lipped on reports that Liam Lawrence has been given permission to hold talks with Celtic.
The Republic of Ireland midfielder started just 14 Premier League games for the Potters last season and is reported to be the subject of a £1.5million bid from the Scottish Premier League outfit.
Lawrence moved to the Britannia Stadium from Sunderland in 2007 but is keen to talk to Celtic after a frustrating season on the sidelines.
The 28-year-old has also been linked with moves to Wolves and Newcastle United.
"Celtic are a massive, massive club and I just hope they can come to an amicable agreement with Stoke," he said, with the Glasgow club close to confirming the appointment of caretaker manager Neil Lennon as their new full-time boss.
"I hope I don't get priced out of a move. If Stoke are looking for £2million that sounds about right and it will be a good deal as I only cost £500,000.
"My agent says other clubs could be interested, but I've told him I'd love to go to Celtic because I don't think there's a bigger club for me."
