Celtic win Soccer Sevens title

After a scoreless first half at Hong Kong Football Club, 21-year-old Northern Ireland midfielder Niall McGinn, who moved to Celtic Park in December from Derry City, set up striker Paul McGowan, 21, just after the restart to open the scoring for Celtic, who beat Australia Under-18s in the quarter-finals. Rangers, who downed West Ham in the last eight before eliminating two-time defending champions Aston Villa in the semi-finals, could have earned extra-time in the closing stages but Archie Campbell fired wide with the goal at his mercy. "It was a fantastic spectacle and both teams played the game to win," said Celtic manager Willie McStay. "There were plenty of incidents and both teams had their chances so it was a great game for fans. "It is my third year here, we lost in the semi-finals two years ago and lost the final last year and now we have won it so I am absolutely delighted. "We have a great record against Rangers at youth and reserve level and it is always sweet to beat them."
