Leigh Griffiths returns as Hoops host Kilmarnock

Leigh Griffiths returns to the Celtic squad for the Ladbrokes Premiership clash with Kilmarnock at Parkhead on Saturday.

The Scotland striker has missed four games with hamstring and calf injuries.

Manager Brendan Rodgers will consider whether to reinstate Griffiths as a lone striker or play him alongside in-form Moussa Dembele, who has scored eight goals this season.

Dembele insists they can play in a partnership, saying: "For me to play alongside him would be a good thing and we have done it already."

He also believes both players will push each other on to the benefit of the team.

"I would say a friendly competition, the team comes first," he said.

"If I can score I will score, if I can give the ball to Leigh I will give it to him.

"In a team you need players who compete (between) themselves and having Leigh here is a good thing for me.

"It will make me a better player and him a better player so it is good for the team."

Kilmarnock captain Steven Smith will be out for three to four weeks after an ankle operation, but Greg Taylor returns from suspension.

Forward Nathan Tyson is in contention for a start after coming on as substitute against Partick Thistle last week while Greg Kiltie (hamstring), Miles Addison (ankle) and Dapo Kayode (knock) could be back for the Aberdeen game next week with Callum McFadzean (foot) still out.

Manager Lee Clark admits Celtic will provide the toughest test of the season.

"Absolutely," he said. "These occasions are one of the reasons I accepted the job.

"Obviously it is a very tough examination for us.

"They are champions of Scotland and Brendan has got them playing at a new level in comparison from last season in terms of possession, the speed they play at without possession, how quickly they win the ball back.

"It is a really tough test but if we do our job, stick to the game plan we will give ourselves a chance.

"There is no team unbeatable. Obviously it is tough we understand that."
