Caldwell wins writers' award

Celtic central defender Gary Caldwell has been named as the Scottish Football Writers' Player of the Year.

The 27-year-old completes a superb double for the Bhoys, with Scott Brown having SPFA Player of the Year award.

Caldwell said: "I think I can still improve. I feel as fit as I've ever felt.

"They do say that, nearer to 30, as a centre-back the experience you've gained over the years can help you.

"I feel I've got better every year and that's what you have to do.

"This is the challenge I have - not to make any mistakes and remain true to myself as a ball-playing centre-half, but cut out the small mistakes that were maybe stopping me from winning trophies and playing in big games."
