Caddis: Hoops pair will bounce back

The Parkhead boss has been tinkering with his centre-back pairing all season and it was Gary Caldwell's turn to sit on the bench for the trip to Ibrox in the Scottish Premier League. However, Bhoys boss Tony Mowbray declared himself no more satisfied with the McManus and Loovens partnership after Kenny Miller's double within 16 minutes was ultimately enough to give the Light Blues victory, which cut Celtic's lead at the top of the SPL to one point. Scotland Under-21 captain Caddis, who teamed up with the rest of Billy Stark's squad at a Clydebank hotel ahead of the European Under-21 Championship qualifier against Belarus at St Mirren Park on Saturday, said: "Everybody has got different ways of coaching their players and the gaffer is different from the gaffer of last year (Gordon Strachan). "We have a different style, we play a lot more football and it's more attractive, but, as for the criticism, these things happen in football. "The central defenders who got it at the weekend; Glenn is in the Dutch squad and big Mick is an experienced player in the Scotland squad. "They will take what's happened and what's been said but they will pick themselves up and improve on it." Caddis admits he felt let down by Mowbray for picking Mark Wilson ahead of him at right-back when Andreas Hinkel was injured before the Europa League clash with Rapid Vienna last week. "Obviously I felt a bit let down and the manager knew that himself but these things happen in football and it's about how you bounce back," he continued. As Scotland Under-21 captain, Caddis is certain to start against Belarus and he is hoping to show Mowbray that he is due his chance with Celtic. "Nobody is guaranteed their game but if the manager picks me it's another 90 minutes under my belt, which I haven't really had this year," he said. "I just need to kick on and hopefully the manager at Celtic is watching and sees that I can do all right. "It can be a breath of fresh air at times coming away with Scotland and hopefully we can get a win." Celtic's Jason Marr has been called up to the squad following the withdrawal of Thomas Scobbie and Paul Coutts. Billy Stark, Scottish Football Association Youth Teams National Coach, is looking for his side to capitalise on any chances they create in Paisley after profligacy in front of goal cost them in the 1-0 defeat by Austria last month. He said: "Belarus are very dangerous opponents but in the three games we have played in the qualifiers we have done reasonably well. "Obviously we did well in the double-header against Albania with full points and, in Austria, in terms of the performance, I really couldn't have asked for much more except to finish the chances that we created. "The goal we lost came from an individual error, which can happen in games. Unfortunately for us, we didn't get the rub of the green, we hit the bar and forced their keeper into a number of good saves. "If we can continue that form, we are capable of winning the game but we understand that we will need to play well."
