Brown wants spirit of last season

The Hoops, with just three wins in their last 10 league games, have surrendered a seven-point lead to Old Firm rivals Rangers who head the SPL table on goal difference. Brown, however, pointed to last term when the Parkhead side recovered from a seven-point deficit to the Ibrox men in the last seven games to win the championship against Dundee United at Tannadice on the last day. The Scotland midfielder, who will be one of the first names on Gordon Strachan's teamsheet for the visit of St Mirren on Saturday, said: "We were seven points down last season and we came back. "That shows our fighting spirit. "We know we have got that so we have to bring it back out." Celtic's recent problems centre mainly around their lack of firepower with the three main strikers - Scott McDonald, Jan Venegoor of Hesselink and Georgios Samaras - yet to reach the 30 mark in total. Brown, however, is relaxed about the Celtic frontmen's relative drought. He joked: "Everyone goes through that - I've gone through it for seven years so I know how it feels. "The rest of us need to chip in with goals as well. "There's not been a lot of goals from midfield recently so hopefully we can come through and help the lads out. "It will come together and hopefully it will be on Saturday but if not, we have a game on Wednesday and we will keep going. "If you see the lads in training, they are scoring for fun. "They just need that we bit of luck and hopefully when one of them gets a goal it will continue on."
