Brown confident

Things have not been going Celtic's way but things will change Scott Brown sees himself as part of the best Hoops squad he has known during his three and a half years at Parkhead. Neil Lennon's side may have drawn their last three home games against Dundee United, Inverness and Kilmarnock but Brown sees a way forward to overtake Rangers at the top of the table. The latest chance to take the top spot came on Tuesday against Killie but the Hoops had to rely on a late Thomas Rogne header to salvage a point. However, the Parkhead skipper, who in his first season with the club after signing from Hibs in 2007 won the SPL title, is confident things will improve. Brown said: "I think this squad is the best squad that I've been involved in. We just haven't managed to see people off. We went two-nil up against Inverness and then lost a couple of slack goals. It was a disappointing 1-1 result against Kilmarnock but never mind, there is still a long way to go in the season. It is not too much (of a concern), as long as we are playing well and creating chances then we will eventually gel. If you look at our squad now it's quite strong. If we go in to January with the same squad we have a good chance. Hopefully we can get a wee bit of luck ourselves and turn things around and hopefully I will get a few more minutes on the park. But the guys have been playing quite well recently so I will have to take my chance when I get it." The Scotland midfielder was defensive when asked about Lennon's tactics of changing his side on a game-by-game basis. Brown said: "It's up to the manager. He can change every week, depending on who we play. If you look at the top teams there is squad rotation week-in, week-out, You are always going to get injuries and people suspended so you cant have the same eleven on the field, no matter what." With home games against St Johnstone and Motherwell to come before the Old Firm derby at Ibrox on 2 January, Brown knows the importance of travelling to Govan at least in touching distance of the champions. The former Hibs midfielder said: "We have to get as close to Rangers as possible, that's our main aim now. We were disappointed not to go top of the table the other night but we just have to take every game as it comes now. The Rangers game takes care of itself and anything can happen. The Old Firm games are always important and everyone looks forward to them. But we have a couple of games in between and hopefully we can pick up a few points there as well."
