Celtic skipper Scott Brown has backed his friend and former Old Firm rival Kevin Thomson to bounce back from his latest injury nightmare.[LNB] Thomson had recovered from two serious knee injuries before he left Rangers for Middlesbrough this summer but his career at the Riverside came to a shuddering halt at the weekend when he broke his fibula against Leicester and he is expected to be out of action for six weeks.[LNB]Brown, who shared a flat with Thomson when they were both at Hibernian, said: "I spoke to him the other day and I'm devastated for him.[LNB]"He was flying at the start of pre-season and got his move and two games into the start of the season that happens.[LNB]"I spoke to him and his head is high.[LNB]"We just wish him all the best. He will get through it no bother. He is a strong character and he will get in the gym and come back flying, hopefully."[LNB]Brown believes the new-look Celtic squad is in good shape ahead of the first leg of their Europa League play-off against Utrecht on Thursday night.[LNB]Hoops' manager Neil Lennon has signed eight new players in the summer and has not yet finished spending.[LNB]The Scotland midfielder insists Celtic's new players have settled in quickly - although he expects them to receive another part of their Parkhead education when they trot out to face the Dutch side.[LNB]He said: "We have a good squad, a fit squad, and the lads are just looking forward to the season now.[LNB]"We are looking like a good team and we are all getting used to each other and that's the main thing.[LNB]"The new players are gelling fine and they all speak good English as well.[LNB]"We have a laugh and a joke and it's looking good.[LNB]"The manager is always speaking throughout games and throughout training and telling us what to do, telling us what to expect, especially a lot of the new players who didn't know a lot about Celtic.[LNB]"They will learn on Thursday when they see 60,000 fans at the stadium."
