Boruc tipped to bounce back
03 Sep 2008 - 11:10:44
Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc has been backed to overcome his current problems by former Poland international Jan Tomaszewski.
Boruc was axed from Poland's World Cup squad after previously going on drinking binges while on international duty and was fined £50,000 by the Bhoys for incidents in Rotterdam during the pre-season Feyenoord Jubilee tournament.
Boruc was heavily criticised for his poor display in Sunday's 4-2 home defeat to Rangers, but Tomaszewski told the Daily Record: "Artur has found himself on a sharp bend in his personal life and he's had a hard time keeping control.
"But that does not mean we can just forget about all the great performances for his country and his club.
"He has to get himself out of the spotlight for a month at least and regain his focus.
"It seems he reacted to his personal problems by drinking. He's had a hard time and he needs help. What he doesn't need is people jumping on his back.
"After Sunday's game, he will find himself going over everything in his head. But I know him and I believe he will overcome his problems.
"He will return even stronger if he is given a chance to catch his breath."
