Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc is set to go undergo knee surgery in the near future, having helped the Bhoys make it through to the last 16 of the Champions League.
Poland international Boruc has also been struggling with a groin problem in recent weeks, but hopes to be back in action for the clash with Rangers at the start of the new year.
He said: "I'm a little bit upset because I won't play the next few games, but I'm happier that I can leave the team with us safely through to the next round.
"I will probably have the operation in Britain at the end of the week, but certainly by the start of next week.
"It's not just my knee that hurts, I pulled my groin against Hearts.
"Overall though the pain has not been too bad, I've had painkillers but not an injection.
"The specialist thinks that I will be out for about three weeks and I'll do everything in my power to be back for the Rangers game."
