Boruc has Shakhtar hope
27 Nov 2007 - 07:45:33
Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc is hopeful of facing Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League despite struggling with a toe injury.
The Polish keeper is rated doubtful for Wednesday's visit of the Ukrainian side to Parkhead after missing Saturday's 3-0 win over Aberdeen.
Boruc suffered a recurrence of a recent injury in the pre-match warm-up but has refused to give up hope of facing Shakhtar.
He said: "I have a problem with my toes. It started after Poland's Euro 2008 qualifier against Belgium in Chorzow last weekend.
"I was really cold there. I had my toe nails cut before the game on Saturday, but in the warm-up I wasn't able to kick the ball, so I decided to give up the idea of playing.
"There was no sense to play just four days before the Shakhtar game because, with two toes aching, I couldn't play at my normal level.
"I need two or three days to be ready for the Champions League. I think I will be ready."
