Benfica midfielder Augustin Binya intends to apologise to Scott Brown for his horror tackle which resulted in a red card in Tuesday's 1-0 defeat by Celtic.
The Cameroon midfielder was dismissed in the 85th minute of the Champions League clash at Parkhead for an ugly lunge at Brown which UEFA have already confirmed they will investigate.
The Scotland international suggested after the match that Binya had deliberately attempted to injury him, but the Benfica player insists there was no malice in the challenge.
He said: "I raised my right foot to the opponent but I didn't intend to injure him. It was a strong challenge.
"I tried to look for Scott Brown at the end of the game because I wanted to excuse myself, but I couldn't see him.
"I'll try to speak with him by telephone, but I also want to take this opportunity to make a public apology."
