Bhoys won't rush signings
26 Jun 2009 - 09:25:12
Celtic assistant Mark Venus insists new manager Tony Mowbray won't be rushed into finding replacements for recently departed players.
Midfielder Shunsuke Nakamura has joined Espanyol, defender Bobo Balde is expected to leave and the futures of Paul Hartley and Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink remain unclear with the pair out of contract.
But after taking the reins at Parkhead last week, Venus expects Mowbray to bide his time while he assesses the qualities of the squad he has inherited.
"Obviously, we've lost a couple of players and we will be trying to bring players in," he said.
"Personally, and this is me speaking, I don't care how long it takes to bring people into this football club.
"If we have to miss the Champions League qualifier, the bottom line is, I'd like to think we will manage this football club for a lot of years and I'd like to think the players we are going to bring to this club are going to stay with us for a couple of years.
"We have to bring in the players who we think are right."
