Celtic appear to have won the race to sign Hibernian's highly-rated midfielder Scott Brown in a deal worth £4.4million to the side from the capital.
The Bhoys have beaten off competition from Rangers, Middlesbrough, Tottenham and Everton to capture the 21-year-old Scotland international.
Hibs chairman Rod Petrie told the Edinburgh Evening News: "Everyone knows that the player will be leaving at the end of the season.
"It's not our practice to comment on things that are not agreed, but the player and his representative have been given permission to speak to a number of clubs.
"Obviously a number of clubs have been interested in him. Scott has done everything that we've asked of him. He said that he was happy to stay until the end of the season and we knew that he would have his pick of the teams."
