The first approach was dismissed as 'shameful' by chairman Ingemar Brostrom, while a second move also failed to match Halmstads' valuation of their highly-rated frontman.
Kujovic admits he would have welcomed the opportunity to secure a switch to Parkhead, but accepts there is little he can do about his current situation.
"Things aren't looking that good," he told Aftonbladet.
"What can I say? I am disappointed of course. It was a big club that wanted me, so I was up for it."
Kujovic will now remain in Sweden until at least the summer, but the 21-year-old is refusing to give up on his dream of securing a move to a European powerhouse.
"I'll just have to work hard for Halmstad," he added.
"The goal is still to become a professional abroad, so hopefully I will make it next time."
