Bhoys finalise Wanyama deal
Celtic have confirmed the signing of Victor Wanyama as manager Neil Lennon played down the consequences of Beram Kayal's broken nose.[LNB] Kayal was injured after being caught by an accidental elbow from Adam Hughes during Celtic's 2-0 friendly win over Perth Glory.[LNB]But the Israel international is not expected to miss Celtic's SPL opener against Hibernian on July 24 - and could even feature in the final match of their Australian tour against Melbourne Victory on Wednesday.[LNB]Lennon told Fox Sports: "He got a broken nose and we don't want to take any chances with him.[LNB]"We will wait until he gets fit again. He may play the next game here - or he may not be involved until we are back in the UK."[LNB]Celtic later confirmed that Wanyama had signed a four-year contract following their successful appeal to the Scottish Football Association over his work permit on Friday.[LNB]The 20-year-old Kenya international, who has been signed as a centre-back, has to wait in Belgium for the UK Border Agency to rubber-stamp the SFA's decision.[LNB]But Celtic confirmed he would be joining them after he passed a medical yesterday.[LNB]Wanyama, who has been signed as a defender following his near £1million move from Germinal Beerschot, told the club's official website: "I am delighted to sign for Celtic Football Club. With the formalities now out of the way, I can look forward to meeting up with my new team-mates and manager on their return from Australia.[LNB]"It has always been a dream of mine to play for a club like Celtic.[LNB]"After reading the club's incredible history I have chosen 67 as my squad number to show appreciation to the 1967 squad.[LNB]"My ambition at Celtic is to win many trophies like the Lisbon Lions."[LNB]Meanwhile, Lennon was thoroughly satisfied with his team's performance after goals in each half, from Gary Hooper and Charlie Mulgrew, gave them a comfortable win following last weekend's 1-0 loss to Central Coast Mariners.[LNB]"We played well," Lennon said. "We were very, very bright tonight.[LNB]"The second goal gave us breathing space to knock the ball about a bit.[LNB]"It's all about progress and the players have done well after suffering a little bit of jetlag in the first game."[LNB]
