Celtic are hoping to beat West Brom to the signature of Steven Reid after holding contract talks with the Blackburn midfielder on Monday.[LNB] Reid, who finished the season on loan with the Baggies, is available for free when his contract expires at Ewood Park this summer.[LNB]The Baggies were thought to the front-runners for Reid's signature, but he has now met with Celtic's officials to agree a deal.[LNB]Reid was at the club's Lennoxtown HQ on Monday and it is believed talks over an estimated £20,000-a-week deal were close to being agreed.[LNB]West Brom still have time to show their hand but Reid revealed last week that no deal had yet been offered to him by the Premier League new boys.[LNB]He said: "There has been no contract offer at the moment from West Brom, but we have had initial talks.[LNB]"I will try to get away next week to have a holiday and then see what we can sort out."[LNB]Should Reid sign for Celtic, he would add competition to the right midfield spot that Niall McGinn hopes to make his own next season.[LNB]McGinn will miss the St Pauli game after going over on his foot during training yesterday but he is already looking forward to pre-season, especially the three-match tour of North America.[LNB]The 22-year-old Northern Ireland international told the Hoops' official website: "I want to hit the ground running at the start of pre-season.[LNB]"I want to go over to America and down to the Emirates Cup and enjoy both. We have a good pre-season lined up which gives us something to look forward to.[LNB]"Going to America is massive for the club because the support over there will be unbelievable.[LNB]"I know a large amount of Irish people go over there in the summer for two or three months to play Gaelic football.[LNB]"It will keep the momentum and the fitness up, especially knowing we're playing Manchester United as it will give the boys something to look forward to. Hopefully it will help give us a good start to the season."
