Bhoys blast McGeady's Spurs link

The Republic of Ireland winger has been linked with a move to White Hart Lane after Harry Redknapp watched him in top form for Celtic against Arsenal in their Champions League play-off clash on Tuesday night.[LNB]Mowbray is hoping to add to his squad before the transfer window closes but shrugged off a suggestion, and indeed almost ignored the possibility, that he could be left having to replace McGeady.[LNB]"I don't think there is any suggestions that Aiden McGeady would go anywhere," Mowbray said.[LNB]"I don't think there is any speculation either.[LNB]"You can throw any one of a dozen names in there instead of Aiden, but I think it's important that we keep our best players.[LNB]"The last week of the transfer window is when things start to happen at football clubs.[LNB]"Teams are sitting there hoping to move so-and-so on but don't want to be too anxious because they don't want the price to drop.[LNB]"Some clubs start to panic and start offering much more money than the player is worth, other clubs are pushing people out the door and other teams are getting bargains.[LNB]"I would suggest there is a potential for a bit of movement and we would hope that there would be, but if there isn't then I won't be sitting here after the Hibs game next week disappointed.[LNB]"I have said from day one I am happy with the squad."[LNB]After defeat by Arsenal in midweek in what was another exciting if ultimately disappointing European night in the east end of Glasgow, the Hoops will host SPL new boys St Johnstone on Saturday.[LNB]Mowbray is aware of the possibility of an anti-climax at Celtic Park as he pointed to Burnley's shock win over Manchester United in midweek.[LNB]"There is a potential danger of 'after the Lord Mayor's show' with total respect for St Johnstone," he said.[LNB]"From playing Arsenal in the Champions League to St Johnstone at home, there is the danger that could be the case, of course.[LNB]"We have to be on our guard because it has been shown that it can happen.[LNB]"To be fair to Owen Coyle he has done it before with Burnley and teams have punched above their weight last season in the cup competitions.[LNB]"I'm sure Manchester United would have expected to win that game, when you look at teams like them who only lose two or three games in a league season.[LNB]"But I think the players are very focused and understand that we have to win games week-in, week-out so we will be fully focused on trying to get the points.[LNB]"The new teams to the SPL always find the extra adrenaline, the extra yard that they need when they got to Celtic Park or Ibrox.[LNB]"When it comes so early for them it's a real spur.[LNB]"We have to make sure we match that and hope our extra talent can pay dividends on the day."[LNB]Mowbray revealed that Stephen McManus and Barry Robson are back in full training but ruled both of them out for the visit of the Perth men, and McManus out of Scotland's World Cup qualifying double-header against Macedonia and Holland at Hampden next month.[LNB]The Celtic skipper has recovered from a knee injury while Robson has overcome a groin complaint.[LNB]Mowbray said: "Both are very close. McManus played a behind-closed-doors game at Blackburn, Robson may play one next week.[LNB]"They are training every day and looking okay but Stephen has to look after his career first of all.[LNB]"He has to play for his club first and foremost and if he is fit to play for his club.[LNB]"But if it comes too soon for those (qualifying) games then it's unfortunate for Stephen and for Scotland."[LNB][LNB] Celtic v St. Johnstone.
