Atalanta rule out Donati deal

Atalanta coach Luigi Del Neri has ruled out making a move to take Celtic misfit Massimo Donati back to Italy in the January transfer window.

The 27-year-old midfielder has struggled to make his mark since joining the Bhoys in the summer of 2007, having chosen Celtic ahead of Atalanta, where he had finished the previous season on loan.

Del Neri told the Italian media: "I can rule out Donati's arrival.

"In 2007, he opted to join Celtic over signing for us and now he has to respect our decision. We are going to sign a new midfielder, but it is not Donati."

Donati has scored a mere four goals in 48 appearances for the Bhoys to date and has not started a game since mid-November.
