English striker Adebayo Akinfenwa claims he is being chased by several Scottish Premier League clubs.

Akinfenwa is a free agent after choosing to leave Northampton at the end of the season, turning down a new contract offer. The 28-year-old continued to live in south London during his two-year spell with Northampton, and admits he would prefer a move to a club in or around the capital. But while English clubs are also showing interest, he will consider a move north of the border.

"I've had three or four Scottish Premier League clubs contact me about going there and doing something," he told the Northampton Chronicle.

"A couple of those clubs couldn't be further away from London so I'd have to seriously think about it, but it's nice to be sought after and nice to be wanted.

"Right now, I'm just letting the interest come in and when I come back from my holiday then I'll sort out my future."

Discussing the ideal circumstances for his future, he said: "I've got the wife and a little kid here and that was another part of why I left Northampton.

"I wasn't spending as much time as I would have liked with my family, and my wife is having another baby so I had to bear that in mind.

"Where I go, the family will have to come with me, so in an ideal world I'd be able to stay here and do a little bit of travelling."
