A week is a long time in football
James Forrest hopes his 'week' long recovery time is near an end Winger James Forrest hopes to step up his comeback from an ankle injury next week after a predicted one-week lay-off turned into a lengthy lay-off. Forrest was told he would be out for a week after suffering an ankle injury in a 3-0 victory over Hearts on 11 September. However, he has still not returned to full training. Forrest said: "I got told I was only going to be out for a week but it has dragged on. It has made it even worse because I got told I would only be out for a few days." However, Forrest is confident he can quickly recapture the form that forced him into the first-team reckoning in the opening weeks of the season. The teenager is using his comeback from a previous injury lay-off as inspiration ahead of his return. Forrest said: "I was out seven months with my groin. I had an operation as well. That was absolute murder, that was a terrible year. But I got back and showed what I can do so since then and hopefully I can do that with this injury as well. When I came back and played that year after the operation I just felt the same as I had before. I've not had an operation this time so hopefully I can do the same. I started running three or four weeks ago so hopefully now I can kick on if I don't get a reaction. The last three weeks I have been running pain free. I had a wee setback last week but the plan is maybe to train one day last week. I will see what happens."
