Catania swoop for striker Maxi

Catania have swooped to sign Argentina striker Maxi Lopez from FC Moscow.

The Serie A strugglers have handed the 25-year-old former Barcelona and Gremio frontman a two-and-a-half year deal.

A statement from the club read: "Catania Calcio announces the acquisition of the sporting rights of Maximiliano Gaston Lopez.

"Maxi Lopez has signed a contract with will keep him at the Rossazzurre club until 30 June 2013."

Catania are hoping that Maxi can provide to goals to help them rise up the table from their current 19th place.
