Ward looking at old boy

Carlisle manager John Ward has admitted he is looking at Barnsley centre-back and former United player Paul Reid as he looks to strengthen his faltering backline. Reid started his career at his hometown club and has also played for Rangers and Northampton Town. Captain at Barnsley last season, Reid has fallen out of favour with boss Simon Davey and has made only four appearances for the Championship club this term. Speaking to the News & Star, Ward said: "I'm aware of Paul and we have talked about him, but that's as far as it's gone. "We didn't try and get him here permanently because Richard Keogh was our priority. "I don't think that's going to happen now, so we've got to look elsewhere."
