Ward fearful over Smith blow

Carlisle United are sweating on ankle injury picked up by Jeff Smith during the 2-1 win at home to Luton Town. The 27-year-old lasted just 15 minutes of the Brunton Park encounter, having come on as a late substitute for Grant Smith. Cumbrians boss John Ward told the News & Star: "His ankle was twice the size it should be and that's pretty unpleasant, so he's going to be out for some time. "I thought it was a nasty challenge on him, but the referee indicated he felt the tackle was fair. "The onus was on him to stop the game, but he didn't and I'm not too happy with that." However, Ward is hopeful that Scott Dobie will be back in the fold for the weekend clash with Swindon Town. He added: "Scott has had a bit of sickness and some weight loss and we are not going to rush him back into things. "Hopefully he should be fine for Swindon on Saturday."
